"Life is not holding a good hand; life is playing a poor hand well."
and for all those who love to wash dishes as much as I do..
"Thank God for dirty dishes They have a tale to tell While others are going hungry We're eating very well!"

;D Very nice and optimistic, sunnyskate! **************************************************** My favourite phrases from Paulo Coelho:When you want something, all the universe conspires to help you
Stop thinking about life and start living
To seek freedom" is the opposite of freedom. Use your potential, you are free.
If you are down, relax and wait. 99% of ppl who say "I'm great!" are in the same situation.
He who avoids risks in his youth, loses the past and is dead for the future

Paulo Coelho "Veronika decides to die"
When everyone dreams but only a few realize their dreams, that makes cowards of us all.

Paulo Coelho congratulates on the New Year and helps me to survive the most tense moments of this season: Take your decisions with courage, detachment, and a touch of madness
Fear of suffering is worse than suffering itself.
Don’t try to predict or forecast. May your life be full of adventures (All the phrases were written in the very beginning of this year)

Just can't help sharing a few more thoughts from Paulo Coelho: * The best prayer is to stand for your values
* You can hurt with your words, but you can also hurt with your silence
* For extraordinary results, extraordinary steps.

A few more quotes from Paulo Coelho:* Life is too short - or too long - to allow myself the luxury of living it badly
* Be realistic; always wish what is impossible.
* There are moments when we say “yes” to others and in fact are saying “no” to ourselves ********************************************* Digitus V, you're absolutely welcome in Twitter to enjoy Mr. Coelho's wisdom! (Ich wünsche dir viel Spass dort!

I'm in a super mood today So.. I dare sharing a phrase of my own for a change: Human soul is created for compassion and support; human mind is created for analysis of the previously discovered and discovery of the future. It's a must of them both to be present.

A wonderful thing I heard on Swedish tv today :
"....the Olympics has parked itself in the tv-schedule like an aircraft carrier in a marina..... "
And it´s true, it´s here and you just cannot ignore it!!!!! ;D

Oh so true! everytime i turn the tv on there's something olympics related. Not to mention the newspapers everytime the swedes win a medal...a gold medal preferably This is probably one of the most amazing threads on this board! I've always liked reading words of wisdom, and i usually write down the quotes that appeal to me most. A great source for memorable and mostly true words has been for me "The picture of Dorian Gray", Oscar Wilde´s novel. Here´s a link to wiki quotes where you can find some of them: en.wikiquote.org/wiki/The_Picture_of_Dorian_Gray . I really recommend reading the book too Another speech that is very dear to me and has stayed with me ever since i heard it is the one Virginia Woolf has in the end of the movie "The Hours" : "Dear Leonard. To look life in the face. Always to look life in the face and to know it for what it is. At last to know it. To love it for what it is, and then, to put it away. Leonard. Always the years between us. Always the years. Always the love. Always the hours." I have more....but i´m afraid it could get boring to write them all down at once. So enjoy these so far!

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.
