melodie, you are very right but we were just worried about the consequences of Stephane loosing his status and stupid ISU politics, not blaming him or something. Myself, I will never go to see Stephane in the show, I could only watch him thanks to kind people who upload the TV vids from competition and big events on the net, I got to see so much of his skating this year which wasn't expected that it's hard to let it go but this will come... It's like he's retiring once again but this time not because he can't skate and without a chance to come back. He's not even doing great post-Olympic televised shows like in France, Korea or any SOI. Right now it feels for me like he's gone for good. It would be sad for me to see his talent "wasted" in some cheesafest when he's so brilliant now and at his full artistic prime. I stopped watching my favorites in such events. Maybe that won't look that terrible as I imagine, I just have the highest standard when it comes to my favorite skater. I can understand Swiss (and not only) fans feelings. They love him so much and always supported him, they wanted to say goodbuy to him. Swiss shows are very nice but it's not the same, it's more entartainment for people who can afford it, while competition at Euros is a rare occasion for people who really love skating and the athletic effort it is. I doubt anybody cares much if he's 1st or 6th, it's not about medal but appreciation for their greatest and beloved skater. But if he doesn't feel like this, it's his right, he's the one who has to go through this. I feel sorry because he must be exhausted and more stress is the last thing he needs now.

As for Steph not competing ,FINE doing more shows ,SUPER GREAT but not being amateur,NOT so good. i pretty much agree. we saw his retirement coming all along so this is not what bothers me. but the fact that he'll lose his amateur status and can't even perform at the exhibition in Bern....that's what makes me really sad. he's the star of Swiss figure skating and the ECHs in Switzerland without even an EX performance by Stephane....it all seems too harsh, too big of a price to pay for a 2 hour show indeed but unfortunately this decision isn't up to us. so happy thoughts, come my way!!

ofcourse it will be and I think it's not about beeing upset. I think it's more like: "Steph made us hope to seeing him more and more on the ice". Now it's only sad for me and others I suppose that this hope went away especially about next year in Bern. But it's his decision and I think nobody can knows better what is the best for him then Steph himself (even if I still think he will be missing competitions one day... )

Kevinbw, no, you're not the only one! i like the fact the the life goes on, i don't mind about it EMJO, i see. Yep, Gala in Bern without Stephane sounds quite strange. Perhaps, they will imagine something - like before the EX -"Art on Ice" presents... ;D Elanor, you mean that tickets for shows are too expensive and not every country, every city has shows? well, yes. I agree. But anyway, competitions also are quite expensive and definetely are held not in every city. For example, in Moscow Kings on Ice in March costs 172$ = 125 EUR for first rows and 50$ = 37,5 EUR on high rows. Yes, extremely expensive. I hope i'll be able to move from height closer to ice But actually i also have opportunity to watch vids uploaded and recorder by kind souls here He might come back, he might not - anyway he does what he enjoys to do. And we have a chance to sit infront of a screen and watch a fairy-tale with great music, perfect dance, perfect movements, nice guy

Plus high level and not much distracting from skating (except the judges sometimes ). It's not like this with most events he can do now. But it's better for Stephane, sure. It's sad he was forced to make such decision. At least, nobody will bother him about competing when he doesn't want to. It's all on "evil" ISU now. I doubt they will do a thing for him, unless someone in big ISU office happens to be his devoted fan or strong federation asks for it. I hope he's invited to skate in Japan. They have great events and the level is very good, they have so many fantastic skaters and TV covers them. Yes, life goes on. We must always hope for the best.
