It's a two and a half hour drive to the nearest cinema that shows Opera on Ice (it is showing in Sheffield) - should i go? I read some excited reports on lambiel_ru from those who went to see it in Russia. So if you can this might be a nice experience, I think.

Thank you for all your encouragement to go and see Opera on Ice. I went last night. You were all correct that I should go and see it – because it was wonderful, and also a rare occurrence here in the UK where figure skating (in the mainstream media) seems to be disappearing. I’m glad I went and showed my support for our beloved sport. The fact that the cinema I saw Opera on Ice at was only across the road from Sheffield Arena (where Europeans were held earlier this year) lifted my mood after the evening commute (traffic made an hour and half journey into a two and a half hour journey). It was truly amazing to see figure skating on the big screen and in HD. I won’t repeat what others have said when they saw the live event or on TV earlier, because I’m sure it was even more special live, but for those who couldn’t see it live I would recommend seeing it in cinemas. I also really hope there will be a DVD version in the future. The skating was flawless, the music was beautiful and Stephane was of course wonderful. I was most blown away by the beautiful venue it seemed like such a perfect marriage for skating as an art, along with opera. I do hope they do more shows of this nature in future. On an off topic note my poor car broke down on the way home, which is why I didn’t post this last night. Apologies if I've rambled on a bit

kayin, thank you for sharing your impressions. Glad you enjoyed the gala and hope it was worth it despite travel difficulties. Maybe DVD will be available too, later. I would like to see it in good quality. I love both opera music and artistic skating so it's a perfect mix for me.

yes, there is already a dvd I have it: it's well done because you can choose to see the show with commentary or not ( I always choose 'NOT' ) it was released some month ago with the magazines "chi" and "tv sorrisi e canzoni". here in Italy you can order it in the newspaper shops or calling the editor (199162171), but I don't know if it can be ordered even abroad www.operaonice.eu/images/stories/banner/arretrati-dvd-opera-on-ice.pngand kayin, thanks for sharing your experience, I'm happy you enjoyed the show sorry for you car though

sure I already tried to make a backup copy for myself, because I watched it like ten times and I don't want to break it ;D it's a bit complicated though, the program give errors while creating the iso (maybe the protection level is too high) - but when I'll manage to copy it I'll also create an avi to share for people who live abroad and can't buy it

pia, you have a pmessage back to the topic, in these days there where other press-communications (I don't know if this is the right translation - maybe press-news? or "announcements") and Stéphane is always mentioned in the cast of Opera on Ice 2012. (I really hope this means that he thinks his recovery will be complete before september )

I'm a bit worried, though, because everyone is announcing Stéphane at Opera on Ice, but the official site didn't say anything.. and there's nothing yet in the schedule

Anna, I hope very much that there can be hope anyway. First and most important because I wish Stephane well!!!! Secondly: It had occured several times that Stephanes appearences at shows and galas have been announced quite late on his official site, so, this means nothing yet (I hope). And: I have my ticket for Opera on ice ... so he just MUST be there ... (I hope) .
