a lot of flags how can he be in Japan on 24 December and in Switzerland on the 27? it's really crazy, looks like he'll spend Christmas day flying I hope he'll be able to have a bit of Christmas with his family at least on 26.. (but it's also great for all the people who can go to the shows if there were 4 shows in 4 days in my country I'd be the happiest person in the world, I think )

Here is the translation of the interview www.artonice.it/?q=it/node/12460(Barbara Castellaro for Art on ice) The faces of a champion, the faces of a skater, are many and different: the one of the athlete who must hit the public and the judges, proving and overcoming himself, the one of the characters he plays, year after year, season after season, the one we give him, writing, reporting his words, revealing the way he shows himself; and of course, the one of the man, with his own problems, his enthusiasm, his limits that make us feel him very similar and incredibly close. Stéphane Lambiel is all this and much more: it is difficult to finish a meeting without him leaving us a part of its essence, without feeling bound to him by a natural and inexplicable sympathy. Welcome back to Torino, Stéphane. Golden Skate Awards at the Palavela has become a regular appointment in your season. Tell us about your relationship with Italy?Stéphane: Staying in Italy for me is like being at home. First, it is very close to my Switzerland and then I have deep ties with this country, memories of competitions, very beautiful moments, shows, like the Golden Skate Awards, meetings. Italy is wonderful and knows how to welcome: it makes you feel loved. Italy, of course, is not only Torino. You have been a few weeks ago at the Arena di Verona for Opera on Ice: you skated "Overture" to William Tell, "Libiamo" from "La Traviata", "Aida" with the other skaters ... Tell us about this experience?Stéphane: It's the second year that I skate at "Opera on Ice". It's a special show, different from all the others. The place, rich in history, traditions, is an important and fascinating location. The Arena creates a magical atmosphere: you realize you are, together with the others, protagonist of something unique, unrepeatable. And then, to interpretate the Operas that have made the history of music is an incredible experience. I'm excited to be one of the protagonists of this event. "Je veux vivre" from "Romeo and Juliet": you skated with our Carolina Kostner. Two great champions of single who perform together. Was it difficult to prepare this performance?Stéphane: For two single skaters, like me and Carolina, it's hard to skate together, try to be a couple. We understand what they need to do our colleagues in the couples and how difficult it is to understand each other, anticipate each other. When you're alone you have to think about yourself, when you're two it becomes more difficult. We worked on our "Romeo and Juliet" last summer in Oberstdorf: we set the program and did some practice. Then, we had to practice alone. We both had many commitments, so we couldn't see each other frequently. However we did. For me, though, it was not the first experience in couple: in 2010 I skated with Shizuka Arakawa and this surely helped me. Have you ever thought to skate a complete Opera, where each of you takes the role of one of the characters?Stéphane: It would be great. In fact, extraordinary. Unfortunately, I do not think it is possible, because the difficulties involved in staging a complete Opera are many. We know you have worked and are working as a choreographer. Tell us about this experience ...Stéphane: An experience that I would define fascinating and interesting. I love to create choreographies. "Carmen", that Carolina Kostner skated for exhibitions last year, was choreographed by me. I have worked with Takahashi, Miki Ando, Denis Ten, Tatsuki Machida. I love to create and experiment. I like to work with other skaters, to identify the movement best suited to their characteristics. It 'exciting. Our Paolo Bacchini, during an interview, said that you were his model, and that when he looks at the international scene he finds it difficult to see a skater like you. He also told us that he had the fortune to be in training sessions with you for steps, spins and jumps. How is it to work with Paolo, how do you see this boy who, after the retirement of Samuel Contesti, will represent Italy?Stéphane: Paolo works very often with me. He trains in Lausanne and we happen to find ourselves on the ice together. There is a friendly atmosphere, as well as a good relationship. I love his long program on the music of '"Il Barbiere di Siviglia" so much, it has great potential ... It's a LP that I could have chosen to do during my career. And, then, Paolo is a great guy, with great enthusiasm, a strong sympathy. It has a skating ... honest ... yes, a immediate skating that speaks to the audience ... I'm sure that he will give much to Italy. So many programs, so many appointments, Stéphane, this year you were part of La Revue, then there will be "Rock Circus", once again the magic of "Music on Ice" in Bellinzona, choreographies, help to the less fortunate.. and all with a smile on your lips. But where do you find this enthusiasm, this desire to do so many things, to overcome yourself, to be each time a different character?Stéphane: You know that the more things I do and the more increases my energy? It 's like tiredness and fatigue disappear. Much of this energy comes from the enthusiasm of the audience that is was always extraordinary, gives a lot af love to me and pushes me to give everything, to spread my joy, the happiness I feel skating or on a stage. I have always believed that the more a person gives - and I'm not just talking about material things, but also his time, his enthusiasm, a part of him - and the more he gets in return. It makes me feel good, you know? It makes me a different person, motivated, fulfilled. And when a man is comfortable with himself, he wants to create something new, he has the power to ask for more and more. You made us worry so much a few months ago for your eye problem. Give news to all those who have been worrying for you during this difficult time, even more than they did when you were competing. How are you?Stéphane: I can give you recent news. Last week I was in hospital for a series of tests and doctors are very satisfied. They told me that the problem is over and I'm fine. In a difficult time for my health I felt an immense affection that has helped me to fight. Return to competitions for your friend Johnny Weir. What can we expect?Stéphane: These are interesting years, with the return of great champions, like Plushenko, Lysacek, who announced that will continue to compete, like Johnny. They are preparing for Olympics, an important appointment. I remember when I did it ... I think they will be athletes hungry for victories. I know that Johnny has great potential, it must only have the courage not to think about what he has done, but always focus on what he can do: he must look to the future. Greetings ... but not by Stéphane, but ... from Romeo to all those who follow you ...Stéphane: How difficult! I don't know ... To all the Juliets, a kiss from Torino, thank you for your support and ... see you soon! "To give. A duty for some, a feast for others", as Chaplin said. A way to live, a need that Stéphane perfectly impersonates. He gave us the words that we have collected, his deep thoughts, never banal, he gave us his serenity, he left us his smile. That smile that, even in difficulties, never left his face.

Thank you for translation, Anna. Very poetic style, but unfortunately not much new and some factual errors (like, for example, Bacchini who suddenly trains in Lausanne which he doesn't, of course).
