Wow, difficult choice . I LOVE Tchaikowsky piano concerto! I love the music, I love Stephane's costume and I love the flow of the choreography. (And at 'All that Skate' the decor fit just perfectly and made the whole 'thing' magical to me). I LOVE 'Ritz': So light, wonderful choreography, nice costume. (Makes me feel light). The more I watched it, the more I was 'taken in' with 'My body is a cage'. It touches deep feelings, a bit of sadness also. In any case, it does not let indifferent. (I was a bit worried about it, hoping that Stephane did not choose this piece for same reason as he had mentionned when he skated NMQP). I can't really choose between those three programs. All three touch me, in very different ways. But in the end, besides all the other mentionnend reasons and as it is like a (long missed) LP for me, I would choose 'Tchaikowsky'. For the music, for the lightness and the romantic mood I also enjoyed 'Je veux vivre' avec Carolina very much. Stephane is so versatile, it is one of many reasons I like his skating so very much. And I am very thankfull to him .

Stephane's interview in "Swiss Health" magazine, translation, pages 4 & 5
Q: How was it set in your family? S: I was lucky, because my mom didn’t work and cooked for us. We always had freshly cooked meals at home: meat, vegetables, and soups. But my father had to work for two because of that, and we were not on close terms with him… When I started to live on my own, I followed my settled habits. I love to do the cooking a lot, I love to improvise, to invent some new things in my kitchen. And this way I always have an occasion to call my mom, to ask her how to cook this or that dish. In winter, when we have less fresh fruit, I take vitamins, vitamin C, for example, as well as medications containing magnesium – it helps faster recovery if your physical activity is high. I also drink a lot of water and tea. Q: But at the same time you have a sweet tooth? Ice-cream, sweets, chocolate… S: Yes! There is a Swiss ice-cream, Movenpick, they have a very fat sort, Double Cream & Meringue, it’s rich ice-cream with cream, meringue and caramel sauce. And chocolate, of course. I love sweet desserts so much, but I try to keep the balance; I can indulge in some chocolate, but after a very healthy lunch. Q: And do you drink any special water? S: No. We are lucky to have very clear tap water from the Alps in Switzerland, this is why we don't need to buy bottled water, we can drink just tap water, without any filters. Still some people continue to buy water in shops, but they do it just out of habit, it is not really necessary. In trips I drink any water. I don’t have any strict principles regarding this, so have no need to worry: “oh, what if in the place I’ve arrived in I will not find some special brand?” If the water is drinkable, it suits me! Q: Is there any food you cannot do without? S: I like to eat soups in winter, they are easy to cook. I usually cook vegetable soups on Sundays, when I have time, and then freeze them in plastic moulds and eat for the next 3 days. I’d recommend it to everyone! It's easy and good for health. In summer I eat fish, especially when I visit my grandma. In autumn the hunting season begins, and accordingly the game season. Game is very popular in Switzerland - venison, moose meat, wild rabbits. I have never cooked such dishes myself, usually our family gathers in a restaurant where game is nicely cooked, with red wine sauce, sweet chestnuts, Brussels sprouts, Spaetzle (sort of dumplings). We eat hot chestnuts with cold meat. Jerked meat is the specialty of Valais, the canton where I was born. We drink good white wine. Oh yes, and cheese, as well. I don’t eat cheese, but my family does, and a lot of it. But I don’t like it. That is, I don’t eat cheese not because it contains much fat and calories, I just don’t like it. But it is good to dislike something rich in calories. Q: So how can you define your approach to food? Do you have any system? S: My system is – everything should have reasonable limits. In sport, especially in figure skating, you always need to control your weight, to control what you eat. But I think, you can always find a way out. For example, you can make up a menu from various food items and eat a little bit of everything; it is better than to refuse completely from what you love. Q: It is generally considered that Swiss people look carefully after their health. Do you agree? S: Swiss people love sport. We don’t have very good conditions for high-achievement sports, but for mass sports they are excellent. Everyone is engaged in some sport: skiing, jogging, basketball, football, hockey. You can find an interest group at any age. My mother’s friends, for example, go hiking on week-ends, and that’s great. Just a meeting at a restaurant is not bad, but adventures are better. There are so many interesting things around us! Many people spend week-ends on the lakeside, feeding ducks and swans or just walking. Maybe in other countries people spend more time in cars, eat there, live there; and we try to spend more time in the countryside. Q: Most often Switzerland is associated with winter; you see, all these mountains… S: Our mountains are good for winter sports in winter, but they are good in summer, as well. You can visit incredibly beautiful places, with beautiful lakes. You may sleep in a tent in the open air, with nothing around but mountains and a lake, and sometimes wild animals. You may walk along the paths, where everything is so quiet and close to nature, and then go back to civilization. Such walks are very popular, so popular that in summer big crowds of people appear; but you can always find a quiet place, though for that you will probably have to climb a little higher. Sometimes, when we don’t want to stay in the mountains for the night, or we just don’t have enough time, we go out early in the morning, find a place for a camp, gather firewood and make a barbecue, spend a wonderful time with a bottle of red wine; and go back in the evening. On the one hand, we take a great pleasure in it, on the other hand, it’s a kind of sport – you don’t feel any pressure, but you get tired by the end of the day. Q: In a few words, Switzerland for you is… S: Home. I always love to return home. My family is there, my friends are there, and… my cat. Q: You are considered an optimist. Is that right? How do you manage to keep the good mood? S: I try to see the bright side in everything. To be more exact, in everything around me – as for myself, I always see imperfections – I’m a perfectionist and I want to move forward. But our reaction to this or that situation is our own choice. What’s the reason for choosing negative attitude? I always try to help people near me, and it helps me to remain an optimist. And of course, to be in good mood you should live in the present. If we are upset or anxious, it most often relates to the events of the past or thoughts about the future. For example, now I am talking to you. And for me this is the present.
