Next day, on Thursday, the day of the show, there was a run through. Not a "full one", which means without pauses, in costumes, with all the lights (like the usually do in AOI, for example). Some numbers were repeated, some things went faster, only a few skaters were in costumes, but more or less they went through the whole show. Rehearsing the opening. It went much smoother than the day before and I actually started to like it (Stéphane still wasn't completely pleased, well, he is perfectionist ). You can notice here that they all look at Stéphane, because he will indicate when to relax the grip. It was the first time then that I saw both "Art on Ice" programs live. I should admit that it took me time to like those programs, it wasn't "the love at first video". But with time, after a few of his performances in different shows I liked them more and more. And live they both are SO much better. Very different from each other, but both exquisite. I completely fell in love with both. I can't really choose what to post here, will post some photos, but do check the rest in the album. "The Water" I love on this photo how he rehearses and other skaters are looking at him. Grieg This program Stéphane skated twice, second time adjusting some things to the pianist's way to perform this piece as he probably wasn't completely content with how it went the first time (though I absolutely adored it, of course ) So I could watch, take photos and also could take a video which I've shared here earlier already. Although the light was awful and the quality of those photos is poor I really love this "Stéphane & Denis" set. I don't know why but their friendship makes me feel warm inside, I always enjoy seeing them together. By the way Denis told me that for the first show a year ago they were defining dates around the time Stéphane told them he can come in. This year they were trying again to find dates comfortable for Stéphane and he from his side also tried to free time for this trip, him participating in this show was an absolute "must" from the very beginning. Rehearsing finale and bows. Unlike some other skaters Stéphane didn't change to the costume (and I should say he looked gorgeous in it in the show )

You're welcome, jomeku. I met Denis and his mom during my business trip to LA around a month ago (it was just by pure chance that the offices of our clients were 2 minutes away from the rink where Denis usually skates, of course, I used that opportunity to meet him), we talked a lot about the show. They are still not sure it will be next year again though Denis has some ideas already. It was a very rich experience no doubt, but rather exhausting too, the trip was not easy and I needed a visa (which resulted in 4 travels to their embassy in Tel Aviv)... So I can't promise about the next year at the moment, sorry. I will add one more story, about the rehearsal in Astana later today. Hope there are more people who are interested to read these stories even if they don't comment. Although... you know what? I don't mind writing it even if you're my only reader.

reut, thank you so much for you share. I feel the same way with your words "I love on this photo how he rehearses and other skaters are looking at him." (When all the skaters just look at his performance,I love this feeling.)

On Friday, before the second show in Almaty, there was no big rehearsal, just a warm up for those who wanted to have some practice on the ice. I was having an interview with Maxim Marinin, so unfortunately I missed when Stéphane was on the ice. Probably, this video is from that practice, by the way. My last story will be about the rehearsal in Astana, on Sunday. We had a very early flight from Almaty to Astana on Sunday morning and when we came to our hotel I was absolutely collapsing. I wasn't feeling well. So I hoped to have some good rest when we finally got our room. I was almost sure there will be something similar to what was on Friday, so I planned to be at the arena probably two hours before the show, not before that. But then Denis suddenly posted some photo on Twitter or Instagram, from which I understood that they were already rehearsing!!! I forgot about how tired I was, forgot about everything and ran to the arena. I still missed all the part of the rehearsals with the orchestra. But later the ice was resurfaced and the skaters who wanted to have some more time on the ice could practice some more. Stéphane was on the ice more than everybody else. He came almost at the very beginning and stayed there when everybody else already left. He worked with Elladj Baldé on the spins. He worked with Denis on his programs, some parts they even skated together in sync. Wow, that was beautiful... His spiral which I love so much... With friends - Tania, Carolina, Denis. It was very dark there, so photos are grainy and blurry, sorry. There was something very magical about that practice. I can't really pinpoint the reason why I felt that way. But I remember that after it was finished (and I was SUPER tired and hungry and exhausted) I told to myself that my whole trip was worth it already because of this hour only. Bonus: smg.photobucket.com/user/reutush_lj/library/DenisTenAndFriends2014/rehearsals/05_30_backstageSome backstage portraits we did for Stéphane's project which didn't work out in the end. But I love them, so wanted to share them with you.

Beautiful pictures again, and I especially love the last, the dark rehearsal ones, and the very last shadow one is magical! Thanks one more !!! What, if I may ask, was this "Stephane's project" which did not work?

The project was related to "Matryoshka". I asked him if he wants to improve it somehow or make some other variation. Stéphane had something in mind for which we needed his portrait in a good quality to be printed on the T-shirt. We did a few tries, he chose one photo and I made a T-shirt next day. Then there was a part he had to do to make the next step of the project. But in the end his initial excitement dissolved, he wasn't really happy with what he did and the project "died". We just continue with the usual "Matryoshka".

I don't remember if I shared these photos here. My photos from the trip: www.flickr.com/photos/tuerush/sets/72157644661181050/ - Almaty www.flickr.com/photos/tuerush/sets/72157644678792448/ - Astana Although Kazakhstan is a former Soviet country I've never been there before. And I really loved it! Both cities are beautiful, in a very different way, I'm glad I could see both. It's also rather cheap for tourists. And people there are absolutely amazing, very warm, very welcoming. I should admit that they might have problems with English though and the tourist services are less developed still. But if Denis decides to make this show next year again, I'd really advise you to consider the journey.

Thank you, reut, for pictures and explanations!!!
Astana looks impressive, new and futuristic.
Hopefully Denis Ten decides to continue with his show next year. I guess there's already no "All That Skate", if Yuna Kim does not skate anymore (?). So, maybe 'only' Artistry on Ice and the shows in Japan would remain?
