I was wondering, can anyone translate his interview from the first video? He got so giggly towards the end I'm dying to know what they were talking about. The last questions were: Questions: I also read on your website that your favourite number is 2, why, aren't you number 1? Answer: Maybe now my favourite number is 1! Question: OK, you have to update your homepage! Answer: OK, I will do it (Stéph giggling) And what about the ladybugs, is it still true that you collect ladybugs` Answer: Yes... Questions: Living or chinaware? Answer: I have a museum at home... Question: How many? Answer: My cellar is full... Questions: That means sending no more? Answer: (Stéph smiles and shrugs) Question: If people like... Answer: Yes it's ok...

I am so glad to hear that it was an unprecedented performance artistically and I will be looking forward to see it soon (if uploaded here).
However, the jumps are of primary importance in the amateur figure skating. And given that Steph continues with the amateurs and has his ambitions, it's only right that he's taken a decision to fully concentrate on his training, if he wants to succeed, and he does want it. We may say we like him anyway, that we'll continue to adore him and so on, but that will not suffice. Steph will feel lousy if he looses, the Worlds for sure, and we want him to be happy. I am afraid, that necessitates for him to make a breakthrough in his jumps and in everything that it may entail.

I know he is always expressive... but this flamenco is the height of expressiveness, we were in the first row and we were all amazed by the gestures and his face. This was a whole new Stéphane... I can't wait to see that program again!

leana I'm sure everyone here agrees that jumps are of paramount importance to any figure skater and that Stéphane is currently going through a particularly bad patch with his jumps. However i don't think the importance of high quality choreography can be overlooked, do you? I'm sure you agree that once several skaters reach the pinacle of the sport in terms of technique then choreography may be the facet of their performance that places them ahead in the eyes of the judges, and perhaps even on a less than perfect day when jumps are an issue a skater can still be rewarded and appreciated through choreography alone (as with practically most 'professional' skaters). I am really looking forward to seeing the new long program, jumps and choreography and all.

Yes, Kayin, it's true what you are saying, and I do agree with it, choreography is sort of the final touch, it's the upper level of mastership in figure skating. And it is appreciated by judges and the public. This is very true. This is probably also why personally I adore Steph and place him far beyond any other skater. With this, there's another truth, the other side of this sport which is of no less importance. Will you agree that a poor technical presentation affects the artististic impression? The one accompanies the other, they go together, there's always sort of a balance between these two. And this is the technical aspect that predominates the overall result, hence the score. Just compare the recent results of the top skaters and you won't have any doubts. You may think I am being tough or paranoic but I know there's only 6 weeks left before the Europeans. This worries me now and I think it only right to use this site to share our feelings of no matter what nature. The fact is, I desperately want Steph to win. U 2, but I am different and view things from a different angle.

leana, i don't think that Mr.Grutter and Stephane underestimate the importance of jumps, they always paid a lot of attention to technical training. They didn't have enough time to train jumps so far plus Steph's illness. We have to be patient and wait 6 weeks . and hope for the best.
