20-25 January 2009 Helsinki, Finland. I wonder if S&J will go to Brit nationals since the event finishes on the 18th. Unless the Fed changes the timetable to suit S&J. Personally I wouldn't come all the way from the USA to England, only to be shafted by the Brit judges, then travel to Finland, but then I've not got a national title at stake!

well, it's always nice saying "Hey I have 34 national titles" But you're right, the dates are too close Why they don't make the Nationals in December as Switzerland?

Well, they used to always be in December before. It was in 2006 they had to be changed to January (2007) because S&J had an international event (Nebelhorn, where they won their first international gold) which coincided. In their wisdom they've made it quite late in January, which doesn't help much.

Only 3 and a bit weeks to go! Very excited! On the subject of the Nationals - I think it is extremely stupid putting it so close to the Euros. Why not a week or two before? I think S&J will have to go to the Nats in order to get onto the team and defend their title. They've said that it's an ambition of theirs to beat Torvill and Dean's record of National Titles - if they win this season and next they will have tied them with 7 titles. Hopefully the desire to get an eighth might make them want to stay on till 2011! This time, you deserve to be on the rostrum at Euros - no doubt!

Thanks for the info Mel, I hope they'll feel OK after the Nats with the Euros so close That's nice from them, in a some countries there are a lot of skaters that haven't compete in the Nats (Domnina and Shabalin, for example )

Actually I thought that his is better was them, that they won't need to go back to US between two competitions. Anyway, good luck to them on both of the competitions.

Well, can´t they just stay and practice at home after Nationals? Would seem like a reasonable thing to do, also to ease the jet-lag...
