No Dom/Shabs eaither? Are we sure about this? I know that Del/Schoes are out, but I can't find anything to say Dom/Shabs have withdrawn too, except for a couple of rumours here and there. I know that they withdrew from the Russian Nationals and had a very bad time of it at the Grand Prix Final, so I wouldn't be completely surprised if they're not in Helsinki. From what I remember, Maxim is having trouble with some illness and the mental aspect of the sport and they've had to bring in a psychologist to help. Sad. Best of luck to them. However, as I said about Del/Schoes, if they're not there then there is even more chance of S&J medalling! If both couples withdrew, I think we'd be looking at 1. K/N 2. F/S 3. K/K 4. P/B 5. The other Italian couple If Dom/Shabs are there they'll probably be first, though K/N will push them, so shift all the places down one. Whatever the situation is, best of luck to S&J - you really can get on the podium!

Personally, I would put Faiella/Scali ahead of K/N.
But I think the comment about DomShabs shows the the journalist is lazy and knows very little about skating. I, like Spence, am sure they meant DelSchoes, but they do not know the difference between defending World Champions and European Champions!

No Dom/Shabs eaither? Are we sure about this? Apart from the quote earlier, I found this at same source. Missing nats through injury could mean they won't be ready for Euros. The 2009 Russian National Figure Skating Championships were held from December 24-29 in Kazan. With the exception of ice dancers Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin (reigning European champions), who withdrew for medical reasons, all the top teams were represented at the event. www.lifeskate.com/skate/2009/01/2009-russian-national-figure-skating-championships-results.html

If I remember correctly (which is unlikely) they missed the Russian Nationals because Maxim had a stomach bug, or something like that, rather than injury. I could be completely wrong. It does happen. ;D

Hmmmmm, minor dilemma. I'm not sure whether to follow the whole competition on here (I don't have access to Sky to watch) and then watch the highlights program on Sunday knowing what's happened, or to follow the CD and OD and then somehow not come on here or look elsewhere for the results so I can watch the highlights on Sunday as if they were live.
Tough choice....

I had heard that Domnina and Shabalin hadn't gone to Nats because they wanted to avoid that big trip About the TV broadcasting I'm lucky Seems that Teledeporte will show live almost everything in the mornings, and the rest, recorded With this and Eurosport, I'm happy

Thanks for that sigrid! Well, I've looked throuh the listings for TRT3, using an online Turkish translator, and found that of the ice dance, they are only showing the free dance live, which isn't ideal, but is certainly the most important bit and the bit I want to see most! Thanks again!

Thanks for that info sigrid! So, is Sky showing Euros, Florida?

I mean I don't have Sky, so I can't get Eurosport, rather than meaning that Sky itself are showing it.
Sorry for any confusion!

Don't worry - I'm going to stump up all of £3.99 to watch Eurosport on the computer for a month.
Can't be bad!

That's a good idea florida. Finally I'll be lucky, Eurosport will show live the CD and the FD, and teledeporte has just announced that they'll show the OD live! (and the FD recorded)

Really looking forward to it now! Eurosport converage of the CD is starting at 1.30 GMT on Tuesday, so we should be able to get all the best couples live, due to the way the draw is now done. Who's going to be around for the Euro parties this week?

Who's going to be around for the Euro parties this week? I'd love it, but I start my exams on 26th and I must study. Anyway, I'll try to be here for the FD. And let's see if I can be here for the OD as well
