I've had to wait for the ice network vids to be up as this computer is apparently missing something (codec?) to view the programs. boo! Anyway, as of today, I've seen the CD and OD and and impatiently waiting for them to post the FD! I was quite impressed with both and they looked very confident out there. It was great to finally see the finnstep in action! S&J's timing and unison was great. And of course, I loved the OD already. Since I'd seen it last, it has improved so much! They've got SO much energy it looks like they're flying across the ice! The spins looked faster than in the past and the exits on the lifts looked smoother. I love Sinead's facial expressions and the snapping of the suspenders was a nice touch. They received such a great ovation from the crowd! I had to watch it again I enjoyed it so much.

Can't you download FD from website, Sunny? It's Spanish I think, from Sigrid's capture. Anni what .avi files? Are you talking about ice network? There are loads of old vids on www.sineadandjohn.com I put them on mediafire - click on "There are more videos here" near bottom of page in the video section. There are 54 videos.

Yes, www.sineadandjohn.com and mediafire, that´s were I´ve been... This: 2004 SA FD.wmv is no problem for me to open, but.... this: 2006 WC OD.avi doesn´t work for me.... Well, never mind, I´ll survive! It is probably something to do with my computer settings, to bad I´m not a hacker.... ...always pleased when it works, because I do not know what to do when it doesn´t....

Mel--I think that's my problem too. I've been using my parents' computer and I think that's what it's missing but since it's not my computer, I can't download the codec. I'm going to go see if the free dance was posted on IN after I finish my work!

I love the FD. So much emotion and passion goes into it and it evokes a feeling I can't quite describe. I like the little things just as much too--the twizzle into the spiral (s)/spread eagle (j), their edges.. Awesome!!

Just worked out what the placings would have meant under the OLD system (0.4 for 1st in CD, 0.6 in OD, 1.0 in FD etc). Kerr/Kerr, Faiella/Scali, and Pechalat/Bourzat would have tied on 6.0 points each. P/B would have got the silver, K/K bronze, and F/S nothing in 4th! Interesting ... I'm glad we have the new system actually!

Interesting. There are parts I like and parts I don't like to the new system. I think it's easier to gauge your own progress. Even though scores can range, the basic score is there to build upon. More concrete.. Though there are scores of complaints I could have too!

Last sunday there was an interview with a male and female figure skater competing at the euros and when asked about the scoring where totally negative and responded that their feelings were widespread with other skaters and seemed very resigned that the scoring system was breeding extreme artistic stagnency

And then there's Jeremy Abbott who just won the US Championships and he says he doesn't think the rules are restricting. I think more often than not people find something wrong with it. I don't think the rules are all bad, but they are definitely stifling.

They were very negative mainly complaining that there are not enough ways to get level 4s so everyone ends up doing the same things to increase their marks.
