The duel was announced. Rivals are hungry again. So, we have to admit that a duel was announced. But it seems to have a much longer history than one might imagine. Did it start with this very Rossini theme we’re so enthusiastic now to discuss and to see? Why not… So, this was Plushenko in 1997: www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwutW1wxCL0 Then there came that wonderful story of 2006 Lambiel’s plans for William Tell. Greatest thanks to fruitiers, stephanie and reut for bringing it here and translating . I’d like to give some more examples of their great rivalry; almost every year there was a contest between them to some music theme: in 2003 Stephane did an Ex to Marton’s Stradivarius – in 2004 Plushenko triumphantly used this music for his LP; in 2004 Plush had a Flamenco in his SP, while Stephane used Gypsy and Spanish motives in his both LPs; in 2005 Stephane made a touching outcry with Ex-Tosca – Plush made Tosca his Olympic SP; in 2007 Stephane came with an unforgettable Flamenco… and in 2008 they both chose for Tango, and in the beginning their variants were much closer than they are now - for Stephane and his choreographic staff found a thoroughly new message for Lambiel’s Tango. The new battle would be fascinating. And Rossini has been a composer for winners

I think that the SP's choice is a really good choice ( I always loved this music !)...In fact, I really imagine Stéphane on this music !! I am sure he could be something very great....Can't wait to see it ! For the LP...He keep his Tango so ! It is a rather nice program to, so it could be, too, very great ! I am really happy for Stéphane...Because he looks really happy, well in his head and body, and it's that why too I wish him all the best, because it is really very pleasant to see!

For the SP he should've skated to [glow=red,2,300] "ROMEO and JULIET"[/glow] it's perfect for him. oh well...

I also think that it's good to have a ta-da program next to the relatively melancholic tango. Joubert's short is despite all the critique a huge crowd pleaser, Chan's tango will be very popular in Canada, you bet that Lysacek has a dramatic windmill short program. This Rossini will get everyone out of their seats, just imagine the fast-paced dramatic music and Stéphane's final spins - it will be huge.

To be honest - I can't imagine Stephane skating to this music. I listen to it - and nothing comes to my mind. I am sure I will like it (because I like every program Stephane's created during the last 3 years - so according the theory of chances I will like this one too). But I can't imagine at all how he will skate to this. I can only wait...

lamur muse, it's interesting the contest between them. Besides, Plushenko chose "Once upon a time in Mexico" as his SP music for 05-06 season, but dropped it because it was the same as Stephane's. (But finally, neither of them did skate to the music at the Olympics. ). I'm so excited to see both of them skate again in the competition.

Thank you so much, I've never heard of it before! Plushenko plans his SP to Chopin's music. Could you imagine any piece of this great romantic composer fitting pragmatic Plushenko? Or he's searching for motivation through silent competing with his former rival Yagudin and wants to try the etude ¹12? www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-VjFKLCKwM(I'm the same lamur museabsoluteskating.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=Stphane&thread=1617&page=44)

lamur muse, no, nike2010, I like your new nickname. Yagudin's revolutionary etude is one of my absolute favorit programs. Just love it. Plushenko has his own style and the music arrangement is so plushy in my opinion. We'll see how will develop his chopin. Sorry for off-topic.

melisande71, it was mentioned before that he'll use soundtrack of "A Clockwork Orange", but that film has few different tracks. So for me it was kind of surprise.

Fruitiers, thank you for your welcome to my new nick Melisande and Reut, thank you for the news about Preaubert's SP choice. Must be very interesting . While it isn't too late, I'd like to share my guess about the Stephane's plot of the William Tell SP (basing on his story from the Journal):From the first theme: 0.10-0.58 approximately From the "stormy" theme: 3.25-4.25 www.youtube.com/watch?v=sG2hGSL345IFrom the Finale part: 3.57-4.10 and then 4.37-4.57 or a bit more to make together 2'50'' www.youtube.com/watch?v=5D5SDGjRidY... Maybe without "Ranz des Vaches". ***************************************************** Watching me musing about Stephane's SP, my elder sister smiled: "There was a funny and shrewd comment when a supermatch between great chess-players had been in full swing. The chess expert told how ardently all his colleagues tried to predict the masters' next move; all of them failed. "And then we felt it clearly - why we are here, and they are THERE (on the stage)".
