Thanks swissmiss for showing us your new layout of the banner! Love it! What a pity we will probably have no chance to admire it in real .

Latest news on the banner - kevinbw has agreed to take it to "Thin Ice". The pewter medal is now on the banner, with a special addition. "Thin Ice" is a competition, so there's another flag as well. (my flag, finally! ) I'll post pics after I finish getting it cleaned up. There's glue residue from the old silhouette that's collecting dirt, so you can see where "Stéphane's" hand used to be. Pia, I got only 17 signatures in Vancouver. I was expecting many more, so I made another signature panel, but ended up not needing it. Very few of Stéphane's fans made it to Vancouver - not because we don't love him, but it was just too expensive. I'm willing to send the banner to Europe after "Thin Ice", but only if people volunteer to take it - I'm not going to beg people anymore. I can send it with the new signature panel and keep the current panel here for the virtual signatures. AoI just wasn't possible this year, for many reasons. I still have signatures from last year's AoI that I have to attach to this banner. Keep the virtual signatures coming! I think I have 6 now, and there's room for another 100 or so. Thanks, sm Edited by MOD

banner going to Thin Ice is excellent news! ;D there's really no doubt that Stephane will win over a huuuuuuuge bunch of new fans with this show so it'll be great if some of them can leave a message for him. and it's a wonderful idea to add this competition (and THAT is a beautiful flag ) on the banner as well, now it can be there instead of the Worlds ;D

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words about the banner! banner going to Thin Ice is excellent news! ;D there's really no doubt that Stephane will win over a huuuuuuuge bunch of new fans with this show so it'll be great if some of them can leave a message for him. and it's a wonderful idea to add this competition (and THAT is a beautiful flag ) on the banner as well, now it can be there instead of the Worlds ;D I totally agree! I've been telling all my friends to watch the show and look for the banner. That's my "hook" to turn them on to Stéphane. When I saw the flags on the banner earlier tonight, I got to thinking, why do Americans like to make such complicated flags and banners? Why can't we keep thngs simple like the Swiss and the Estonians? sm

I finally finished the banner and mailed it off to Kevin. I've also updated my blog with the story of the banner transformation and lots of new pics: swissmissvids.spaces.live.com/If you're new to the board and curious as to what the banner looked like originally, the original pictures are here. I also included an update on the virtual signature project and edited the instructions. There's no deadline (for now) and you can submit a virtual signature even if you've already signed the banner earlier in the year. Please let me know if you're interested in taking the banner to any of the galas after "Thin Ice". If you've never done this before, there are four things involved: 1) Get other fans (and maybe some other skaters, too ) to write messages to Stéphane on the signature panel (the detachable backing of the banner). 2) Take pictures of people signing the banner and/or posing with it, for the scrapbook that will go to Stéphane with the banner. 3) Hold it up for Stéphane when he comes out to skate and during his bows at the end, as long as you don't block anyone's view and make them . 4) Send it to the next person. (Warning: this can get expensive. ) There are two more steps for Kevin (and whoever else is going to "Thin Ice"): 5) Attach the "medal" Stéphane wins next to the US flag. 6) Show the banner to Stéphane, if you get to meet him at the autograph session. He's seen it many times with the “Otoño Porteño” costume on it, but probably not with "William Tell". I held it up when he took his bows after his practice session the day of the free skate, but I'm not sure if he noticed it was changed. Probably not - he had a lot on his mind that day. For more info, read the Signatures, Medals, and Flags, Pictures, and More Notes for Banner-bearers entries. I'll be back more often (and share my Olympics story ) once I get caught up with my "real life". sm

well the new banner looks excellent! a great summary of this amazing season he gave us. i'm sure Stephane will be really happy to see it at Thin Ice! and swissmiss you yourself deserve a big golden medal for all the hard work you've put into this i love the silhouette on the pewter medal! makes it even more special and i hope that Stephane will understand just how much we love and support him despite the fact that he missed the podium! anyway i hope some kind people can also take the banner to Europe galas and it will travel nicely and without problems. hopefully everyone will keep us updated

I can take the banner to the Moscow show on the 31th of March. But I am not sure if the few days remaining until the show are enough for the banner to get there

Do you think there is enough time for the forwarding?

Oooh... I'm not sure it would make it there in time. The last time I sent a banner to Moscow, it cost a LOT (probably more than Kevin would want to spend ) and took over a week to get there - I think it was 9 days. Thanks for your offer, anyway! Is anyone going to the gala in Stockholm on April 2nd, who might want to take it? It would take only 4-5 days for it to get there, for less than half the price and people could write "Happy Birthday" messages to Stéphane. Thanks, sm
