I didn't quite know where to put this, but I found this on these on the US Figure Skating webpage:

the one above was interesting - the caption said: "Stephane Lambiel knows he's got the gold (and a world record in the free skate)" ...world record? I don't recall that...but my memory's going, so if someone could let me know if I'm going crazy or not, that'd be great, haha.

Oh, also, I think the World Record they were referencing was his total score. I think no one has had a score so high for their performances in this new scoring system. I am quite certain that is what they mean.

As for the record, well, somehow some people seem to forget that this comp, unlike the others that have been judged under COP, had a qualifying round... so if you take those 38 points off, Stéphane didn't break any record at all... (not that it takes anything away from his performance)

I think Sasha was just spinning? haha.

Yeah, that's what I thought about the world record thing - I don't recall hearing anything about that...it would've been nice, but oh well! there are other competitions.

eh, not sure, but I don´t think he broke the record, I think Plushenko still holds it

That's what I said - if you take off the points of the qualifying round, Stéphane is behind Plushenko. But many people forget to do that and thus think that Stéphane broke a record...
