Schnaddel, guess what? I've still got this on VHS I love Stéphane's interpretation of Quidam, it's brilliant. I remember watching this in 2002 and one thing really stood out for me: when the tight rope bit starts around 2 minutes into the programme, he's holding his umbrella and normally skaters would put some choreography in like that for a few seconds and then revert back to normal arms, but Stéphane holds it for quite a while and then jumps a triple loop, landing it with the arm still holding the umbrella - that's so cool! I saw Quidam a few months ago at the Royal Albert Hall here in London and it brought back really nice memories of Lausanne 2002.

I saw "Quidam" last year in Barcelona, it was... October the 15th. It was "a day before". I really enjoyed to be there, 'cause I really love "Cirque du Soleil", I hoped they'll help me not to think about "next day", but I kinda chose the wrong show to forget about Steph's press-conference...

oh no, reut! If it was anything like the show I went to, it wouldn't have helped at all because at the Royal Albert Hall they even had loudspeakers in the toilets, playing Dralion ;D

nadin, actually I didn't check their toilets, so I don't know. And in Albert Hall I saw their "Varekai" (I think my most favourite of all their shows), it was a year and a half ago, when I was in my Europe trip, which included also Euros in Zagreb. But then I didn't check their toilets either.

Dear reut and nadin, I saw Quidam 1999 in Berlin - not knowing what will be happen a few years later... Schnaddel, guess what? I've still got this on VHS Nadin, you will be robbed! After my really bad experience with loosing a tape I have everything twice! After 2005 I collected four versions. That's paranoia, I think! After 2006 I calmed down because I discovered fsvids. No problem if my hometown explodes! We have a problem with sports. You can get every movie but will always have problems to watch old tennis matches etc. Therefore I record sports. (Tomorrow Federer. He has chances to fulfil his dream...) About Lambiel at Euros 2002: I was in front of my TV - eating. Then - "aha, this young french boy again" (my dear swiss friends you will forgive me! ) then - "WHAT'S THAT? " - I forgot to eat... After this performance I ran into the kitchen where my husband made the dessert and told him, completely shocked: "I 've just seen a miracle. - This young french boy, you remember? Lambiel or what... ..." and I told everything and said: "He has got everything. If he learns to jump [ ], he will be world champion." - Some of you know my husband - so you can ask him, he can confirm that's the truth.
In 2005 - when Lambiel skated for his victory... Girls, I watch figure skating for 35 years or something, I really don't know - I've never, never, never been so nervous. I was frightened. When he missed his axel I slipped from my armchair onto my knees, immediately pulse rate 180, I thought I had to die, I bit into my shirt, I thought about running away but didn't - after two minutes I was praying "no more jumps, please, no more jumping... " - Everybody knows what happened. - My husband to me: "You said it."
Figure skating is more than a good thriller.
I should make a good version of my 2005 tapes for you.

For as long as I can remember I've been taping figure skating, but only the bits I like, so it can happen that a whole competition will pass and I've only taped two programmes. Last year I decided to catalogue my video collection and go through everything I have and write down which event, which skater, whether it's SP/LP/EX and what music they skated to. I had to start with VHS stuff from 1994 as everything prior is on Betamax and still somewhere at my parents' house. I went through everything quite quickly, fast forwarding most performances and just writing down everything. That was until I reached said Quidam performance in 2002 (or rather Euro's 2001 just before). Then all of a sudden I wasn't fast forwaring anymore, I had to watch each one of Stéphane's performances. In fact I wasn't moving very fast at all because let alone fast forwarding, after I watched a programme once, I had to rewind! Several times! ;D Anyway, it took a very long time alltogether but it was quite an amazing journey through figure skating watching all those tapes. Unfortunately I haven't got much footage whenever I've been somewhere live, but yes schnaddel, I agree I'm much more relaxed now I know I can just download stuff and burn it on DVD. I was devastated when I accidentally taped over the Zagreb EX and Davos 08 footage, but it's nice to know I can get it elsewhere. Finally, CONGRATULATIONS TO ROGER FEDERER!!! Yes, we may be a bit off topic but it is off season after all and there's still over a week to go before DOI...

LP Euros 2002. I really, really like this program and performance. Very good quality. From ABC, I've never seen this version before. Dick Button is commenting, he said: "He's a very talented jumper" ;D. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P0rYCbeO-kWOW! elanor, thanks for finding this! And of course, thanks to TripleAxel1996 for uploading this and the rest of the competition! Here's this video for download: www.mediafire.com/?twyuiyggtniI know it really doesn't belong here, because it's a new vid, not a repost. I remember watching this when it aired - with all the banners and the cowbells, I loved how the Swiss really supported their skater! Afterwards I regretted not recording this competition, because there were so many good performances. I used to tape skating if I wasn't going to be home when it was on. I always taped over it after watching it, however - and now I could kick myself for doing so. Now if I could just find the ABC broadcast of 2001 Euros - that's my "holy grail". That was the first time I saw Stéphane skate, and my experience was similar to schnaddel's. About halfway through the program (they showed only LPs of Euros) I called my husband over to watch - "You gotta see this Swiss kid - he can spin just like the girls!" And I remember thinking the same thing - that if he ever got his triple axel and a quad, he'd be unstoppable! Well, he never got his triple axel, but still.... I'm uploading some more vids - be back in a bit.... sm

Really? This is my favorite "baby Stéph" vid. The first time I saw it, I thought something was weird - where were the silver and bronze medalists? Then it dawned on me - I had just seen the entire junior men's competition! ;D I wonder whatever happened to those girls - do they brag about standing on the podium with Stéphane Lambiel? Here it is for download - www.mediafire.com/?znjhyzwvdayAlso, you mentioned "Geissel Drama". He actually skated that program twice - the second time was at Nationals the month after SC. He wore a different costume, however - instead of "Fix You", he went back to version #3 of "Malagueña". Here are the Nationals vids - the last performance of "Geissel Drama" and the first performance of "Poeta". 2006 Swiss Nationals SP: www.mediafire.com/?tunz2dkkmt42006 Swiss Nationals LP: www.mediafire.com/?mjmy1tmytcoThese are reposts of Laury's home vids. Please honor her request not to post them on YouTube. absoluteskating.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Stphane&action=display&thread=1587&page=13#63938I'll be back in a few with even more old vids. sm

Yes, that's the one. I think I downloaded it the same time you did. I have another copy of this vid from Italian TV, but as you can see, the quality is very poor. I uploaded it for someone back in 2007, and it's been downloaded 76 times! I guess people love to watch Stéphane, no matter how bad the video is. www.mediafire.com/?cmzvk29kbpj(Oops, I had the wrong link there - it's fixed now. The count is now up to 77. )To continue our trip down Memory Lane, here are the first 4 vids I ever downloaded from this site: 2004 Art on Ice - "Gypsy Dance" (in what was to become the "You're Beautiful" costume ) www.mediafire.com/?v3myizv0mzl 2004 Art on Ice - "Take the Long Way Home" www.mediafire.com/?zqt4gm3xdj22005 Art on Ice - "Billie Jean" www.mediafire.com/?mmmkynykzdd2005 Sarah Hughes and Friends - "Malagueña" (also in the "Spanish Caravan" costume ) www.mediafire.com/?zmhtnmygiz2That's enough for tonight - it's after midnight here. sm
